Photo of the Day

Today I will go back a little further for the photo of the day. I took this picture near the end of 2006 on my way back from a trip to see Purdue play in a bowl game in Orlando. I had a couple of stops planned, and seeing the original building where Kentucky Fried Chicken was made was on that list. I just thought that it was a great lunch stop on my route. I had to go a bit out of the way, but it was very cool. The inside seemed to hard to photograph at the time, but the outside seemed ripe for the picking. I remember that I had to wait a bit to get this shot with no patrons in view. It is nearly six years old, but will finally get published.

In case you were wondering I ordered the new bowl at the time which was about one of everything thrown together in a bowl. I was not eating fast food at the time so it was quite a treat for sure. It may have taken a couple of years off of my life, but it was fun to eat the Colonel’s chicken where it all began in Corbin, Kentucky.

Technical Data

This photo was good the way that it was, but it needed something to take it up a notch. I used the Dramatic filter in Topaz Adjust 5 to add well some drama to the picture. I also added a little to the sign in Lightroom to give it a glow. This shot that was decent now looked a lot better to me.

Kelby Worldwide Photowalk

Here is that part of the post where I talk about the photowalk that I am leading on campus after the Wisconsin game in October. The date is October 13th to be exact, and the walk will start at 4 o’clock est at the Neil Armstrong Statue in front of the Armstrong Hall of Engineering. Over  1,100 photowalks are planned around the world. If you are not near West Lafayette then you kind find a walk near you on the Kelby site. Sign up now to be part of this event. Over 22,000 walkers have already signed up so far. You don’t have to be a pro (I am far from it) to attend. Any kind of camera is welcome as well. Here are a few links to the various sites which promote the event. If you want to sign up you should do so on the Kelby site in order to be eligible for the prizes though.

    1. Thank you. I really had no idea what I was doing then, but sometimes things just worked out for me. My hit rate is a little higher now, but that came with a lot of practice.
