Dharma Enjoying a Rest

Photo of the Day

Today’s photo is another one from Wolf Park. This park is a great resource for learning about the behavior of wolves, but it is also a great place to get some shots of wolves. In the wild you may go into an area that is heavily populated with wolves, but because of their nature you might not see them. Here at Wolf Park they are right in front of you. I posted a shot from this same day of Dharma on day 334 of my 366 project. I had Labor Day off, and the park was open. It was a great chance to see the wolves and the new puppies that had been introduced to the pack. I really need to get back out there to see the wolves again.

Technical Data

This shot was a chore to edit. I wanted to add some punch to it, but nothing seemed to work out. When I first edited the photo I really never messed with white balance. In the month or so since then I have used that a bit more. I usually shoot in auto white balance, and that did not work out here. Once I picked the correct white balance things looked much better. Sometimes you just need to wait a while to edit a photo I guess. This was also one of the last shots that I took with the 70-200mm lens that I was renting. That week I picked up my own which has turned out wonderfully.

Kelby Worldwide Photowalk

Here is that part of the post where I talk about the photowalk that I am leading on campus after the Wisconsin game in October. The date is October 13th to be exact, and the walk will start at 4 o’clock est at the Neil Armstrong Statue in front of the Armstrong Hall of Engineering. Over  1,300 photowalks are planned around the world. If you are not near West Lafayette then you kind find a walk near you on the Kelby site. Sign up now to be part of this event. Over 30,000 walkers have already signed up so far. You don’t have to be a pro (I am far from it) to attend. Any kind of camera is welcome as well. Here are a few links to the various sites which promote the event. If you want to sign up you should do so on the Kelby site in order to be eligible for the prizes though.
