Flashback Friday: The Sun Sets on the Baseball Season

Throwback Photo

This might be the last week that this feature shows up on Friday. I have a couple of ideas that might pull it back to Thursdays. I am not sure yet so I guess we will see next week. For this week’s flashback picture I thought that I would go back to 2005. I had just moved back to Northwest Indiana from Iowa, and I had a chance to see my Silverhawks play again. I love watching this small town team play, and this season I did not get a chance to see them in their newly renovated stadium. I guess I will have to get back next year. We were sitting on the lawn that night, and it allowed me to capture this beautiful sunset. I can’t believe that this picture came from a point and shoot, but it did. I was not happy with my pictures that night because all of the action was blurry. When I got to this one though I was very pleased with myself.

Technical Data

Just because it was shot seven years ago with a point and shoot does not mean that I can’t alter it with Lightroom does it? I brought the picture into Lightroom with the idea that nothing would work. I added a little clarity, and it seemed to be okay. I brought up the highlights, and it looked even better. The picture looked good before, but it looked even better now. Maybe this flashback section will be a showcase of what you can do with a point and shoot in the future.

Kelby Worldwide Photowalk

Here is that part of the post where I talk about the photowalk that I am leading on campus after the Wisconsin game in October. The date is October 13th to be exact, and the walk will start at 4 o’clock est at the Neil Armstrong Statue in front of the Armstrong Hall of Engineering. Over  1,100 photowalks are planned around the world. If you are not near West Lafayette then you kind find a walk near you on the Kelby site. Sign up now to be part of this event. Over 22,000 walkers have already signed up so far. You don’t have to be a pro (I am far from it) to attend. Any kind of camera is welcome as well. Here are a few links to the various sites which promote the event. If you want to sign up you should do so on the Kelby site in order to be eligible for the prizes though.
