Day 358: John Deere Green

Photo of the Day

Today I was running an errand when I noticed this old John Deere tractor in the parking lot. I pulled over, and took a couple shots of the tractor while it was sitting on its trailer. I had a couple of pulled back shots, but in my haste I did not notice the modern car that was showing behind the tractor. I decided that I should use one of my tight shots of the engine for the post tonight. You can really tell that I am near the end of this project as I have really mailed it in the last four days or so. This weekend will allow me many things to shoot so I expect that things might pick up again. I had a great looking shot all lined up tonight, but I did not have my camera. I just decided not to take it out tonight, and of course I found something interesting to shoot. I guess that I proved my point of always having the camera yet again.

Technical Data

I really went for broke on this image tonight. I upped the contrast much more than normal, and almost maxed out the clarity. I also added a bunch of highlights, and a touch of shadow recovery. I also performed a small crop to get some of the unwanted elements out of the picture. In the end I think that this looks alright for a day off of shooting.

Kelby Worldwide Photowalk

Here is that part of the post where I talk about the photowalk that I am leading on campus after the Wisconsin game in October. The date is October 13th to be exact, and the walk will start at 4 o’clock est at the Neil Armstrong Statue in front of the Armstrong Hall of Engineering. Over  1,100 photowalks are planned around the world. If you are not near West Lafayette then you kind find a walk near you on the Kelby site. Sign up now to be part of this event. Over 22,000 walkers have already signed up so far. You don’t have to be a pro (I am far from it) to attend. Any kind of camera is welcome as well. Here are a few links to the various sites which promote the event. If you want to sign up you should do so on the Kelby site in order to be eligible for the prizes though.
