Photo of the Day
Today I went to the Feast of the Hunter’s Moon for the first time. As we walked into the fort where the festivities were going on I noticed a display of firepower going on. Of course I took off to get a good vantage point. I took a few shots today, but this was one of the first on the day. I thought that the smoke looked great coming out of the guns. I was mad in camera in that the gentleman in front fired so early. I wanted the smoke from all the guns at once. When I opened it up at home though I really loved the fire coming out of the muzzle. I knew right then that this was probably the photo of the day. In fact I have not even gone through all my shots from today yet as I really liked this one. The event is full of interesting characters so I am sure that I will have a post set to go live in the morning as well as I go through my pictures a bit more.
Edit: Just before I hit the post button I decided to go through the pictures to see if there were any that I liked. I posted a few of the better ones to my Facebook page here. You can click on that link provided or just follow the link on the bottom left of the page to get there. I did save one for a post in the morning as I thought it deserved a story.
Technical Data
Not much to talk about here. I shot this with the 70-200mm lens that I can’t take off my camera. I had the 1.4x extender on it as well to bring the action in a bit closer. In Lightroom I just added some clarity, and upped the highlights a bit. I really like how the shot looked so there was not much to do to it.
Kelby Worldwide Photowalk
Here is that part of the post where I talk about the photowalk that I am leading on campus after the Wisconsin game in October. The date is October 13th to be exact, and the walk will start at 4 o’clock est at the Neil Armstrong Statue in front of the Armstrong Hall of Engineering. Over 1,100 photowalks are planned around the world. If you are not near West Lafayette then you kind find a walk near you on the Kelby site. Sign up now to be part of this event. Nearly 21,000 walkers have already signed up so far. Activity has picked up a bit on the Purdue sites even with the short time being posted. You don’t have to be a pro (I am far from it) to attend. Any kind of camera is welcome as well. Here are a few links to the various sites which promote the event. If you want to sign up you should do so on the Kelby site in order to be eligible for the prizes though.
