Bonus Photo of the Day
I have already used the title from the song rainbow in the dark for a post so I figured that I could use part of the song today. Right after posting my picture of the day a little early a small thunderstorm rolled through. I wanted to get my tripod and remote sensor set up, but I really didn’t have the time. I grabbed my camera and ran outside. I really have not shot lightning too much, but I had a couple of ideas to try. Being handheld I couldn’t have the shutter open too long so I had to try and react to the lightning. I was only successful two of the seven times I saw it, but I did get this result. My other success was kind of a boring shot if that is possible. I am glad though that I caught this one. I love how the sky is lit up by the lightning. This could and should have been the picture of the day, but for once I tried to get everything done early.
Technical Data
This is a great example for why you should shoot RAW. The shot looked good by itself, but I was able to make it look a little better in Lightroom. I corrected the exposure a bit, and performed a subtle crop. In the end this was the shot that I was looking to get when I went out. Next time though I will use a tripod so that my arms don’t get so tired.
