Picture of the Day
Today we were up by the river so I thought that I could go down and see if I could get a decent picture of Lafayette from the banks of West Lafayette. As it turned out I could do more than that. The river is so low that I could go down to a spot that would normally have been in the river to get my picture. The river was named the Wabash because it ran so pure, but things have changed. In fact I passed a sign on the way down explaining how the river contains raw sewage. Needless to say I stayed on the bank to get this shot. I did see people swimming in the river, but I was okay right where I was. I had another idea in mind when I took this shot so I didn’t spend much time with it. The other idea did not pan out, but looking at this picture I came up with another shot idea. Maybe that will show up in a few days on here.
Technical Data
This is another instance where I applied a technique that I learned from watching a Matt Kloskowski video. I put my three RAW files into Photomatix to get my 32 bit HDR file. Instead of tonemapping the image I saved the file as a TIFF. I then took that file into Lightroom to perform my editing. Here is where it got weird. For some reason the file looked pale white when I took it into Lightroom. I moved the exposure slider all the way to the underexposed side to get something that looked good. I don’t know why this happened. The photo came out nice, but I lost some of the control that I should have had.
