Day 269: In The Fountain

Photo of the Day

Today we were on campus as part of the worldwide Google+ 1st Anniversary Photowalk. I organized one here in West Lafayette because I knew hat I couldn’t get to any of the other Photowalks because we had a bout tonight. The heat may have scared some off, but we had a great time anyway. The walk started at the Neil Armstrong statue, and continued through campus. We saw much of what makes the campus of Purdue great, and even saw a rally against incoming Purdue President Mitch Daniels. The highlight of the walk though was this fountain near Beering Hall. The Loeb Fountain was fun to shoot, but in all honesty that is not all. It was hot enough that I decided to run through the fountain as well. Nobody wants to see pictures of hat though so I decided to post this one. I might have a bonus picture tomorrow from tonight’s roller derby bout. First though I have to sleep, and dream of big fountains.

Technical Data

This shot was originally going to be part of a three shot HDR image. It never looked good to me though so I went a different route. I took it into Photoshop and ran it through the Topaz Adjust program inside of it. My 30 day trial ran out, but I liked it enough to buy it outright. For the $50 price tag I will get a lot of use out of it. I applied the dramatic filter to this shot, and adjusted some of the settings to get the look that I wanted. I have a couple of more ideas for this fountain so it may show up again on this blog.
