Day 233: Free As A Bird

Yesterday I went to Carb Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Part of the show is to see the cars go through their final shakedown on the track before the big race on Sunday. After that we watched the Freedom 100 which was the Indy Lights series race. For some reason that really did not get things going. You have to know somebody on the track to make things interesting. One of the racers was the nephew of Olivia Newton-John, but he wrecked during the first lap so we couldn’t root for him. The real draw for most people on the day was the concert held by Lynyrd Skynyrd in the infield. I have never really been a huge fan of them. I like their music, but I would never have paid just to see them play. As I usually do though I worked my way to the front after many had camped out all day in order to get a decent picture. I took a few shots during the show, but I liked this one the most. Can you guess what song that they are playing by the hand gestures that they have up? I will post the name of it later in the comments, but lets see if you can get it. Being close to the stage allows you to see some really interesting things. A cop pulled a Clay Matthews and tackled a kid trying to fight right next to me. They actually smashed into my leg in the process. Of course I have a few pictures of that ordeal as well as some others from the track. I may post one or two of those after I process them a little. I think the track pictures can look good with a little HDR love performed to them. For now enjoy the band. This picture was taken in RAW format, and tone mapped in Photomatix. That is pretty much the end of the post processing.
