Last night I sat down in the suicide seats to shoot some of the bout between the Lafayette Brawlin’ Dolls and the Naptown Third Alarm. I only shot for the first half, but I snagged a couple of good pictures. With all of the movement on the track sometimes it is tough to capture your subject in motion the way that you would like. I had a couple of good ideas last night that sort of panned out. I used my 50mm lens again because it was the only one that could give me the light that I needed in the arena. By using it I could also lower my ISO a bit to get some shots that were not too grainy. This shot is of Brawlin’ Dolls jammer Sugar Magnolia getting around the last defender to become the lead jammer. If you do not know what that means don’t worry I didn’t either until a couple of months ago. The sport actually is very exciting, and I am a little sad that I have to wait until the end of June to shoot another one. The rest of my pictures from the bout can be found on my Facebook page here.
Nice action shot – I’ve not quite mastered motion and my shots are a bit hit and miss yet!
I like it a lot. I found out that they do this here, so I might have to see if I can go and take some photos.
It is very fun to watch. I highly recommend it. It is also challenging to photograph because of the low lighting.
