Last night I headed to South Bend after work to see the Lafayette Brawlin’ Dolls take on the South Bend Studebreakers. I am still new to roller derby, but I enjoyed the bout despite the outcome. The girls from Lafayette had a rough time in the bout, but as you can see they still had fun. I have the basics of roller derby down now, but some of the obscure rules seem to still be hard for me to grasp. I will be at another bout in two weeks so maybe I can learn a little more then.
I tried three different lenses at the bout trying to balance the lack of light with the need for a fast shutter speed. I ended up liking my 50mm lens the best, and I will probably start with it in two weeks. The only problem with using that is the fact that I have to constantly work the focus because of the narrow depth of field. I will keep trying to get better pictures though as the season goes on.
