Today I knew that I did not have a lot of daylight left when I left work. I decided to head to a spot that I had seen a few weeks ago when I was scouting out barns to try out some HDR on. Without leaves this location was not very good, but I knew that it might look okay with some snow on the ground. When I drove by I knew that I was right. I parked just off the road, and trekked down to the waters edge. I was very pleased with the way it moved around the location I first walked up to so I snapped this picture. Actually I snapped six of them, and merged them into an HDR image. I thought that the HDR process would smooth out the ripples that were in front of me. If that had happened I was going to just post one of the six pictures for today. I was very surprised that it did not have an issue with the water ripples. I like this shot, but I might have to give this location another try on another day. I would like to shoot at least a little more on the overexposed side of the spectrum to maybe get some more light into the scene. The best part about this shot was that there was no wind in the woods. With the wind whipping around it would have seemed much colder than it did.
What a great winter scene. Perhaps trying a neutral density filter, that might help get rid of the ripples and make the water appear frozen. Does the water freeze? I think the image is fantastic, though would love to see it with the water frozen. Well done.
