I thought that it would be great for the next twelve days to try and incorporate a Christmas theme into this project. Today I found a house that I have admired to get a shot of. I love the light display, and thought that it would be a great HDR test. I thought that the rain was a bonus. At first you would think that rain would be horrible for a Christmas picture. What it did was give a nice reflecting surface to almost everything. I didn’t like some of my three shot brackets so I took three pictures here slightly overexposed, and quickly flipped over to underexpose three images. The three put together really seemed to work well. I really love how the front sidewalk turned out. On a normal day it would have been boring, but the rain really gave it some character. My only regret is that the lights are a little blurry. That is probably because I was sitting in my car hand holding the camera. I think that if I had used my tripod I could have had a much better picture. Overall though I think that this was a good first try at HDR lights. I am sure that in the next twelve days I might have another shot at lights, and knowing me lately I will shoot enough to try some HDR.
I like it, makes me think I could do similar. People here in Australia never used to decorate their houses like this, but over the last number of years it has become quite the thing to do. Might try doing some next week.
I think the rain really adds to it as well.
I love the sidewalk reflection mate. Good eye!
