Day 28: HDR Sunrise

This morning I was on my way to work when I saw a beautiful sunrise. I was mad the day before because for the first time in a long time I did not have my camera. I made sure I had it today, but it looked like the clouds would waste the sunrise. Just then it really highlighted them, and made for a beautiful sunrise. I always try and include something in my picture other than the sky so I hurried up and found something for the foreground. This hydrant served the purpose on a desolate road. It seems that more often than not I see a good sunrise on my way to work. Today I took the time to actually capture it on film. If you look real hard in the background you can actually see my place of employment. I have a great view coming in everyday for sure. I don’t know if the HDR helped or hurt this picture. I like it in a small view, but blown up the actually fiery clouds don’t look as good.

  1. Very well done! You merged those guys together very well and I like the focal point as well, the hydrant has it’s own unique charm.

I do have a suggestion for the HDR in this instance, you shot at 6400ISO and did an HDR. HDR by nature adds noise, and add in your ISO, your image has a little noise to it that you may or may not want.

After you finish your merging, try running it through some photo-editing software to reduce the noise a bit and see if you like it with less noise (unless you are looking for noise as an artistic perspective of course) I don’t know if you want people giving out random suggestions, but I think we have spoken about HDR in the past and I thought this bit of advice that I got from someone else in the past might come in handy.

    1. No keep the suggestions coming. I shot high ISO because it was nearly dark at the time. I lucked out that it didn’t turn out too grainy, but the shot with my car in the foreground did not turn out at all. That may have been part of the problem. I am just starting this HDR process so any suggestions are welcome.
