October 19th, 2011 (Day 13): Wet Leaves

Once again today it rained the entire day. It does not look like it will stop so I decided to grab a picture while it was at least slowed down a bit. It was still raining pretty good so I decided to try and get a shot from my car so that my new camera would not get wet. I found a small memorial garden near my house that had some nice trees on the edge of the road. I pulled over to try and get a few shots. The only problem was that the wind was blowing right into my window. So now I just had to find a good picture that would allow me to point north and shoot it so that the wind would not blow the rain in my car. I found the perfect tree, but was having some trouble finding something that looked great. I ended up just shooting some leaves that were pointed down because of the wind. I had trouble keeping them in frame because the wind was so strong. I then thought that I should try and find a drop coming off of a leaf. I saw the main one on the far left first, but then noticed that basically three drops were starting to form. I quickly put the camera up and took a test shot that looked to be exposed properly. I took one more just as the wind quit, and that is the picture you see above. I looked at my screen and knew that I had tonight’s picture. The drop was forming perfectly on the left so I rolled up the window and came home. Shooting macro with my long lens worked out well once again.
